Portrait of Taj Lamani

“art is what remains long after we're gone.”

Taj is a multidisciplinary designer driven by an obsession with the intersection of life and art in many perspectives and angles.

Introduction

A practice rooted in the quiet observation of human contradiction — where canvas, graphite and presence become a single, ongoing question about what it means to be seen, and what it means to disappear.

I grew up between the soft chaos of Amman and the silences of long afternoons spent drawing on whatever paper I could find. Art was never a hobby — it was the only language that did not lie. As a child I copied faces, then I copied feelings, and slowly I started inventing my own.

Years later, the obsession remains, only the tools have multiplied. I move between oil, graphite, and digital surfaces, but every piece carries the same heartbeat: the search for the one image that holds a life inside it. I am still that child, only louder.

now and then

I see art as a mirror that does not return your face — it returns the version of you that you have been hiding. My vision is to make work that refuses to behave, that arrives before language and stays after the room empties.

Now and then, the practice shifts. The medium changes, the subject changes, the light changes. What does not change is the conviction that a single honest image is worth more than a thousand careful ones.

My Vision

01.

To draw the membrane between parallel worlds — the one we live in, and the one that lives quietly inside us. The graphite bleeds because the boundary was never meant to hold.

02.

To invite the viewer on a journey, not a tour. These pieces are not made to be understood at first glance — they are made to be returned to, the way one returns to a recurring dream.

My Mission

01

Build a community of artists who recognise each other across noise — a circle that protects the work, not the ego.

02

Inspire the young, overlooked artists who were told their voice was too strange, too quiet, too unprofitable. It was never any of those things.

03

Elevate Arab and Jordanian artists on the international stage — to move our work from the margins of the conversation into the centre of it.

Metaphorical Triad

A meditation on the three-dimensional identity — the figure on the left is the public self, the version we offer the world. The figure on the right is the inner self, the one that speaks only in silence. The form above is the spiritual convergence, where both finally meet and recognise each other as one.

Thank You

Thank you for spending these few quiet minutes inside my world. Art only continues to exist because people like you choose to look, to feel, and to carry something away with them.

Every time you support an artist — by watching, sharing, commissioning, or simply remembering — you are keeping a fragile, necessary fire alive. None of this is possible alone.

A special thanks to everyone standing with the Jordanian art movement. We are building something that did not exist yesterday, and the only way forward is together.
